Spirits begin to soar (3) A B-2 Spirit deployed from Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., began flying operations Oct. 16 at Andersen AFB, Guam. The B-2 is a multi-mission capable, state-of-the-art platform equipped with low-observable stealth technology. The stealth bomber Airmen deployed here will be fully integrated with the rest of the 36th Wing to take full advantage of integrated training opportunities.

Spirits begin to soar A B-2 Spirit bomber refuels from a KC-135 Stratotanker during a deployment to Andersen Air Force Base, Guam. The bomber deployed as part of a rotation that has provided U.S. Pacific Command officials a continuous bomber presence in the Asia-Pacific region, enhancing regional security and the U.S. commitment to the Western Pacific. The B-2 is from the 509th Bomber Wing at Whiteman AFB, Mo. The KC-135 is assigned to the Illinois Air National Guard's 126th Air Refueling Wing at Scott AFB, Ill.

The Spirit arrives (2) The B-2 Spirits from Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo., arrive here under cloudy skies and a rainy evening 7 Oct. This stealth bomber is parked on the tarmac at Andersen Air Force Base and is immediately serviced by maintenance crews after its arrival. The Spirit is a two-person aircraft and is equipped with stealth technology. These airframes are replacing the B-52 Stratofortresses deployed here from Barksdale Air Force Base, La.

A B-2 Departs from Andersen AFB A B-2 Spirit from the 13th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron departs on a training mission during one of the final sorties of a four-month deployment to Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, Aug. 24. The 13th and 393rd EBS flew more than 140 sorties and released more than 330 weapons during the deployment. B-2 aircraft, pilots, maintainers and support staff deployed from the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman AFB, Mo.
