A B-52 Stratofortress takes off armed with four Mk 56 mines

ANDERSEN AIR FORCE BASE, Guam – A B-52 Stratofortress takes off from here armed with four Mk 56 mines Nov 3. This sortie was the 10th and final mission of a week-long joint sea mine laying exercise with the Navy. The B-52s dropped a total of 98 inert mines on two practice mine fields that were 3-miles long, and a mile wide.
