An Air Force B-1B Lancer returns to Southwest Asia after completing a close-air support mission in Iraq. Forward wing settings are used for takeoff, landings, air refueling and in some high-altitude weapons employments. Aft wing sweep settings -- the main combat configuration -- are typically used during high subsonic and supersonic flights, enhancing the B-1B's maneuverability.
