Two A-10 Thunderbolt IIs sit on the flightline

Two A-10 Thunderbolt IIs from the 355th Fighter Squadron at Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, sit on the flightline awaiting the next mission. On the nose of the A-10 is a 30mm GAU-8 Avenger seven-barrel Gatling gun which is used to pierce heavy armor.
