F-35 prototype achieves supersonic speed

Flight International reports that the F-35 Lightning II AA-1 prototype has achieved supersonic flight, yesterday. It achieved Mach 1.05 while carrying a full, 2,450kg (5,400lb) inert weapons load.

In all, the AA-1 completed four runs to Mach 1.05, achieving about eight minutes of supersonic speed.
