C-17 Globemaster III Archive

ST. LOUIS, March 20, 2024 -- The fleet of C-17 Globemaster III airlifters built by The Boeing Company [NYSE:BA] has reached one million flying hours -- the equivalent of one of the advanced cargo jets flying every minute of every day continuously for more than 114 years.

The Air Force may have to buy more than the 180 C-17 transport planes now envisioned because C-17s are wearing out rapidly in the war, Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England told senators.

Washington - The Boeing Co. would receive about $100 million for its C-17 transport program as part of a $92 billion emergency funding package for Iraq military operations and Hurricane Katrina recovery that is moving toward a House vote.

I am pleased to announce that the Australian Government will acquire up to four new Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft and associated equipment to provide the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with a heavy airlift capability.

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon's plan to mothball production of the C-17 cargo plane in Long Beach would have a devastating effect beyond Southern California, sucking about $8.4 billion from the economy and eliminating more than 25,000 jobs nationwide, a new federal study says.
